Brrrrr and whatnot

Little bit of an arctic turn in the weather, lately.  Woke up this morning to 14 degrees outside.  Our yard, which is in a bowl halfway up a small ridge in Riceville, gets mushy most of the winter.  Except for today, when it's an ice skating rink.

We're looking at more forecast winter weather tomorrow.  I tend to believe this one a little more than the one forecast (and bust) last weekend.  I've got a couple favorite weather guys I tend to listen to.  One is James Spann out of Alabama.  Given that most of our weather in my corner of the Tennessee Valley, when it's frozen, tends to wander out of the Gulf of Mexico through Alabama, I tend to give Spann a good ear, when he's got something to say on social media.  I've also got a weather guy on the Facebooke.  I don't know if he's a meteorologist by trade, but he's conversant in the models, and tends to make pretty good predictions for our neck of the woods, in terms of Snow and Ice.  He's based a little more north of me in McMinn County:  I believe he's based somewhere around Maryville.  But He's familiar with the patterns that weather takes in our area....even moreso than a lot of the television media.  It's crazy, because I don't even know his name.  He just operates under the account "Winter Storm Outlook for Eastern Tennessee."  He types in all caps.  But his information is usually on target.

His information has us getting heavy snow tomorrow.  Heavy being somewhere between 3 and 6 inches.  I know you northern folks are still giggling.  It's alright.  I kinda am, too.

Did what would have been my Friday grocery run yesterday.  Didn't panic buy.  Just bought my milks and yogurts and bananas for me and Thesaurus.  Some lunchmeat.  Pizza toppings, since Shyam said she was gonna try her hand at some pizza dough from scratch.

I did see a couple folks loading up on milk.  But pictures last night on Reddit from Athens, Cleveland and Chattanooga showed break, dairy and meat sections blown up.

I don't miss that at all.

I am at something of a quandary.  I've mentioned it a couple times, I think.  But in September of 2023, Mom had a stroke.  She's done a tremendous recovery, and I think she's physically around 95% of where she was prior to the stroke.  I mean, two months ago she went to Italy.  So I'm thinking she's pretty spry. Last January, we were still dealing with a lot of the fallout from the event, and I stayed at her house during a snow event that turned into freezing rain....roads were a mess for a week.  She's said she thinks she'll be OK during this event.  I loaded her up with firewood yesterday.  As of right now I'm planning on staying put at the Big Stupid Tompound.  We'll see how it goes....
