The Monkey
Really, really dug it.
Hit's the Creepshow/Tales from the Crypt vibe that I tend to look for.
Appropriate, since it's based on an early Stephen King short story, many of which are fueled with that same energy brought by those old EC stories.
Before this flick, I'd never noted the resemblance Theo James (who stars in dual roles) has to James Franco. I spent the first few minutes of his appearance on screen thinking a beefed up Franco had found his way back into a Hollywood feature. But no, it's Theo James, and his verging-on-deadpan reactions to the horrors that transpire is perfectly executed.
It's not perfect, but it's good for a laugh, and it's the type of humor that I tend to think will hold up for me through multiple watches.
