Stormy

We had a vicious line of storms wander through my corner of Southeast Tennessee last night.  The amateur meteorologist in me was watching the system with interest since Monday.  It unfolded in much the same fashion that the storms that hit the South in April of 2011 did, with a key difference.  The main part of the front came in a little later in the day, after an initial line of showers cooled the atmosphere a bit.  There wasn't much sun in between the waves, so I think that kept the evening storm system from being the booger I was afraid it would be.

Still, Shyam and I took the cats and dog down to the office of our business.  We're up on the ridge with no basement, and no real good central room in the house.  The office is cinderblock, and its bathroom well protected.

Taking the pets down there was a trick, but at the end of the day, they all seemed in good spirits.  We had to get up for routes this morning at our normal time, so we're wandering around on about 5 hours of sleep.  The pets are all sacked out like they had to work a week picking tobacco....

We made it through, though.  We had a boogery line come through around eight--it looked to be part of the same system that was called for rotation that ran through Niota, Sweetwater and Loudon without a tornado touchdown.

I'm 48, and tornados worry the shit out of me.

I've had my quota for the spring, and it's not even technically spring yet!
