A look around the Rocky Top Brigade

You know, I've been a part of this little group, the Rocky Top Brigade, for a couple of months now, and I've probably not said a whole lot about what I see around it.

So today:

Say Uncle takes the Catholic Church to task on their political leanings of late. I liked the religion/house insurance analogy. Well put.

Right here, on the Busy Mom Blog, the lessons that Mothers teach. Busy Mom is reportedly in Myrtle Beach or thereabouts in South Carolina. Which is where I was but four scant days ago. South Carolina was hot, and also rainy. And there was this restaurant, where you throw your trash (potato peels, crab shells, etc.) through a hole in the table.

SKBubba comments on Tom Clancy...when reading Sum of All Fears a while back, I had the very same paid by the word thought.

Over on A Smoky Mountain Journal, a little commentary on the quality of the "wildlife" in Cades Cove. It's been several years since I've made it up in that direction, but the only distinct memory I have of that trip is watching a guy on a bike go down one of the hills where it's clearly marked to walk your bikes down the hills, and thinking the only thing that would have been funnier (and appropriate) would be if after he tumbled over his handlebars, a bear had suddenly appeared and dragged the guy bleeding and screaming into the woods.

Bear is down with the sickness, over on Mind Warp. I commented on the page that four out of ten of my favorite people are dogs, so I can sympathize.

My fellow citizen of Murfreesboro Mike Reed comments in his July 30th post on Max beginning school, politics in Texas and reality television. I voted for Rich Vos on Last Comic Standing, but that's the only Reality Television I've been watching lately.

And I want to point you to Bugly, which is a newer addition to the RTB, and I laughed a few times on my first glance at the page. Plus, its name is the same as one of my favorite Transformers.

And Bill, who's not a member of the Rocky Top Brigade but perhaps should be, and is certainly worth mentioning here, made me laugh harder than I was willing to admit to him in person with his July 27th post on his Waffle House ruminations.
